Hey everyone,

I just downloaded the recommended version of forge for 1.5.1. And when I tried installing it on
my minecraft, my minecraft won't start. It gets stuck at the done loading screen and won't continue
to the home screen.
I don't know what is wrong. I copied and replaced the files into my minecraft folder, in the bin section
after I changed my minecraft.jar into minecraft.zip. After that I deleted the items in the META_INF folder that had MOJANG in front. I then started minecraft and it would not run. Then I restarted my computer, and I got the same result. Btw, I use a macbook with OS X mountain Lion

What should I do?

You did put the forge files inside the minecraft.jar right?

2-you didnt delete the meta-inf folder AFTER installing forge
3-next time, see a step by step tutorial

I had the same problem, so i downloaded the latest version instead of the recommended, and it worked.

I just tried that, it still gets stuck at the done loading/updating minecraft screen....
Should I delete the META_INF after I install forge as well?

Yes, but it has 611 at the end instead of 608. Not sure if that makes much of a difference though.
How did you install it?

I did follow a tutorial, it said not to delete META_INF, but to delete the items inside that had MOJANG before them

How exactly did you install forge?

I just installed it in minecraft.jar

Did you make the minecraft.jar a .zip file? I can't open the minecraft.jar, so I made it a zip and extracted the folder from minecraft.zip.
Then I copied and replaced all the files from the forge file into the minecraft file. Is that what you did? I am working on a mac

It will still not work. It is giving me the same screen, it will not go to my minecraft home screen.
What steps do I need to install forge? I am probably doing something wrong

Seems like you're having lots of problems with manually installing, so you could try a program like MagicLauncher to automatically launch minecraft with certain mods installed.
