Hello Minecraft Forumers! Heres me little question that I beg you to help me on: A while back I installed 7zip and attempted (by accident) to open a file with its GUI, it automatically made every file I download a 7zip file. I bet your wondering how this is bad. Well everything I put in the jar refuses to work, optifine, modloader, forge, and SPC. Also I cannot install texture packs now.. You may be thinking that I should just uninstall that. I did theres no trace of 7zip on my computer whatsoever and yet every file I download becomes a 7zip file. I've installed WINRAR to try to fix the problem but it isn't working.... I beg of you guys to correct me on my mistake!
7Zip did not turn all your files that you download into .zip files, or .7z either. What it basically did is set 7zip to be the file's default program so that when you try to open it, it will automatically use that program. If you uninstalled it, make sure that you install the correct version for your OS (32 or 64 bit for windows), then right-click the .jar or .zip and go to 7zip-open archive. Do this for both the minecraft.jar and the .zip file, then drag the files from the .zip into the minecraft.jar. Delete meta-inf, and you're done.
