I am following cestislife's general guide on installing mods after an early failure. He recommends starting with a clean .jar. I had tried to install a mod without success earlier and so I can not guarantee an unadulterated .jar file. He suggests using the force update. I tried to do that Options>Force Update but then when I sign in I am given the following message
Try deleting the bin folder inside of the .minecraft folder and force-updating. Also check your internet connection and make sure that it doesn't cut out all of a sudden.

Can any one help me get a clean .jar and get through this problem.
