My son is a newbie in Minecraft. He plays minecraft 1.5.1 in his PC.
However, he wants to download modloader in his minecraft.
I try to search for the tutorials on how to download modloader and other mods. I am following all the instructions in the tutorial video to download modloader. I have downloaded modloader for minecraft 1.5.1 and follow the instructions. But it is always crashed and I see this message:
Minecraft has crashed!
----------------------
Minecraft has stopped running because it encountered a problem; ModLoader has failed to initialize.

Why is it always happen?
I am very frustated to download this modloader since my son is always ask me to dowload the mods.
first off, you want to get modloader from the correct source, not a video, not that they are not trustworthy, just make sure the file you get comes from a solid location.....link to modloader....it also looks like you are trying to load TMI, I use this too, and again from a reliable source, cant find link at moment but it is on this forum. You may also want to have 7zip, a useful tool for opening the jar file. then Install in this order....
1. open minecraft.jar in the bin folder located in your .minecraft folder with 7zip
2. delete the META-INF folder from the jar
3. drag the contents from the modlader zip into the minecraft.jar file
4. then drag the contents of the TMI mod zip into the minecraft jar
5. close files and enjoy your modded minecraft jar.
Also any mod you add must be made for modloader only and watch how many mods you install that use modloader as it will be limited too because of the number of available block ids. And please re download a fresh copy of minecraft, unless you made a backup before trying to mod. should always make a backup incase something goes wrong. You may also want to think about using forge. With forge you only need to add forge to the jar and if using TMI that goes in as well, all mods made using forge will go in the mods folder, some modloader mods go there too, but not many. This way you only need to mess with the jar once. And always download mods from this forums, they are descriptive on installation and reliable.
I have done what you ask me to do.
i download the modloader from the risugamis, and did as instructed. But it is still crashed and show this message again:
Minecraft has crashed!
