Hello,
When minecraft 1.5.1 came out I immediately logged on to update it, but when I clicked update minecraft updates about the quarter of the way and this message pops up:
Failed to launch
Fatal error occurred (4): /Users/---------------/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar
Now, I do have Optifine downloaded but it's not completely up to date. I assume it has something to do with this. Oh by the way i am doing this on a macbook air. I've tried to figure it out but i'm new to this and i'm afraid i'll on screw this up more.
Do a Force Update. Go to options (below login) and click Force Update. If it says: Will Force! then log in. It will update your game to the latest version.
If this did not work, You may need to reinstall the locally installed files that Minecraft puts into place. To do so, in the Finder, from the Go menu, select Home. Then open Library, Application Support, and then minecraft. Drag the bin and resources folders to the trash, then try running Minecraft again.

If that doesnt work try deleting your .minecraft folder(Make sure to move the saves folder elsewhere if you dont want to loose them)
Think I will be on here often? Haha no.
