I updated minecraft to 1.4.6 and obviously all mods got deleted so i downloaded forge 1.4.6, dragged and dropped the files in, deleted META INF, ran minecraft and when i logged in the mojang screen showed up for less than a second and then the screen went blank. someone please help me!

It's not crashing and giving an error report, the screen just goes black and nothing happens

its worked before by just downloading forge modloader and, deleting the META INF in the forge file, then dragging and dropping it into minecraft.jar and deleting META INF in minecraft.jar

Dont delete the META-INF in the forge file. Open up the miencraft.jar, delete the META-INF in there and then copy everything including META-INF from the forge file into the minecraft.jar

It's there for a reason obviously if they put it in the zip

Annoyingly I tried that it didn't work, but it said that there was a file that already existed in minecraft.jar called aux.class. I don't know wether to replace the file or skip it.

Are you using 7-Zip to move the files into the minecraft.jar. I use that and don't get that prompt

I thought you had to install modloader before you install FML

I'm having a problem too. I used magiclauncher to install forge, but got a black screen. I went back and disabled all my mods and tried again, still a black screen. Force updated, and installed it manually, still a black screen. I've been installing mods since 1.2.3, and I know what I'm doing. I'm really bummed out and am trying everything possible, yet nothing has helped. I agree, if forge doesn't work now, are we forever doomed to use our favorite mods again?

Edit: Fixed! Turns out I had NEI for minecraft 1.4.5 and the coremods folder doesn't show in ML, so forge had a conflict with NEI and ML wouldn't show me. Just had to delete everything in coremods. So now it works, and those who are also having black screens, forge works and I suggest carefully looking at your .minecraft folder, because only a few people are having this problem.

I fixed it! I had to delete the whole .minecraft folder (I did save the texture packs) and then it worked! anyone who has the problem, back up your texture packs and delete the .minecraft folder then open minecraft and reinstall it, then drag in forge.

I have the problem with 1.5 so when it sets up my minecraft environment a fatal error occurs I can't tell them because apparently guest has been banned for no good reason if anyone can get access to forge and tell them the 1.5 error then they must re upload it. Otherwise it's my minecraft.
