I know this isn't really directly related to modding but I don't know where else to go. I've been saving old version of my minecraft files all the way up to alpha 1.0.1 ( secret friday 3 ) and I really enjoy playing them and feeling the nostalgia (most recently played: 1.1.2_01) but when ever I play, the new sound effects are played instead of the old ones. I don't know why this happens or if theres a way to fix it. If some one could please explain to me why this happens and if there is a way to mod in the old sounds i would be very grateful. Thank you.
First of all: wrong forum. This should go in unmodified client support.
As for your problem, Minecraft stores its sound effects in the resources folder, not the jar. So even if you go back to the old jar, it's still reading the new sound files from resources. If you want the old sounds, you will have to find an older copy of the resources folder.
