I play perfectly fine for a minute or two with FLAWLESS fps. After that I have the lag spike of DOOOOOM! Here is a list of things my computer has, mods I use, and other odd things I've noticed.
- New gaming computer. gtx650 - 16 gigs of RAM - i7 3.6 GHZ quad core processor - YES I HAVE THE LATEST JAVA
- I gave Minecraft (or JAVA or whatever) 6 gigs of RAM to use.
-The game runs perfectly fine for a minute before the lag spike.
- I play minecraft on the (currently) latest version of 1.4.7
-This problem happens on both singleplayer AND servers.
-The ONLY mods I use are EITHER (as in the problem happens with both) Optifine OR McPatcher. I use these mods to let me play with higher resolution texture packs.
-I play with the 256x256 Photorealism texture pack. No lag at all until the spike.
-The same problem happens with the default texture pack.
-I have tried chaing around graphic settings with no results.
-I use windows 8. The task manager for windows 8 shows the % useage of my computer for each program. When I play minecraft it uses about 15% to 18% at any given time. My total cpu useage goes from about 17% to 20% at any given time (with minecraft open). Once the lag spike starts, my minecraft stays at around 20% CPU useage, but my total CPU useage shoots up to 30% or so.
- I have tried force updating minecraft.
- I have tried deleting my entire .minecraft folder, and I redownloaded my entire minecraft.
If you any other window open or if you PC is busy doing something else, then you will lag. If you're lagging this much, there's probably a hoard of mobs that spawned somewhere nearby. If you're playing an adventure map with lots of redstone, buildings, and mobs, that can cause the lag too.

No... It's not that the game is lagging becuase my computer can't handle it. I play for the first minute 100% without lagg in any way shape or form even with 512x512 texture packs.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
