Okay, here's the deal. My 10-year-old was begging for mods so I got him some. First I installed Modloader, then I installed the Mobs Galore! mod. He wasn't satisfied. So I also installed the Mo' Creatures mod along with everything required to make it work.

And here's what happened. After about a day all the mods quit working, and instead of mobs spawning like they normally do, a random chunk of terrain would appear somewhere in the area my son had cleared for his game. All the buildings and such that he had made were still there, all his items, etc., were still there. But some of them were now underground.

So I got rid of everything and performed a clean install. Everything worked thereafter, except that nothing would spawn regardless of difficulty setting.

I did another clean install, forced an update, and began checking around. It seems the problem lies in one specific savegame. New worlds and all other saved worlds spawn normally. If it was just me I'd scrap it and start over, but my son has really put a lot of work into his world and I'd hate for him to lose it. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Yep, thought of that. But in this case nothing spawns anywhere at any time, animal, hostile, or otherwise. Creatures spawned in creative mode prior to installing the mods remain, a few randomly spawned animals that appeared prior to installing the mods remain, but anything else spawned in creative mode unspawns rather quickly and no new creatures spawn ever. Any other ideas?
