I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, as I don’t post much.
I’ve been having problems with the said items. I am trying to use Ovo’s Rustic Texture Pack. The water and lava says “patch with mcpatcher”. I’ve tried everyway I could find to install and use mcpatcher for this, but it won’t work. I also wish to be able to install other mods my dragging them into the mods folder like I do with forge.
I’ve also been told (through various videos and installation tutorials) that you can use Optifine and don’t even need McPatcher for HD Texture packs. Is that what Ovo’s Rustic is? HD? Will it or should it fix the problem? Because I have also tried this with no luck.
Since I’m already here, the water and lava in Lord Trilobite’s Norsecraft isn’t animating, has that got anything to do with the main problem, or will I have to deal with it?

You cannot install both Optifine and MCPatcher together, as they are incompatible with each other. There is a work around, but this will disable most of MCPatcher's features. Install only Optifine if you only wish to have support with the HD textures and better FPS in general.
FYI: HD texture packs generally means any texture pack that has a resolution of 32x and higher.
Yes Ovo's Rustic is 64x64 I believe and needs MCpatcher or optifine. I too when wanting to zoom and have better FPS tried to install Optifine. I did that WHILE I still had a few MCpatcher patches on. SO whenever I tried to use connected textures it would not work. But please note OptiFine does not work on cracked Minecraft accounts and neither does Minecraft Forge. So if you wanted most mod support,ability to zoom more video options better FPS and so and so I'm sorry if you don't have Premium Minecraft account. PS dont use those *free minecraft premium accounts* thing it WILL give you a virus. My friend's dad is a cheapso so yeah he tried it and not good for them. They had to wipe their computer.
