In Game Crash when I press "ESC" or "E" to build

Seems to be java related, but I'm not real sure. I have optifine installed, as well as a texture pack. However, the game crashes when I have the defualt texture pack loaded, so I don't think the texture pack is the problem.

Whenever I press ESC to bring up the menu, the game crashes with this following log (also happens when I bring up the build menu.) Any suggestions? Thanks.

Don't extract your minecraft.jar if you are using windows. Use a archiving program such as 7zip or winrar to drag in the files without extracting it.

I'll force update minecraft, then install optifine without extracting using 7-zip, then let you know how it goes. Thanks.

UPDATE:
Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but when I drag the files in without extracting the minecraft.jar, I do not get a notification to replace the already existing files. Instead, the files are brought in alongside the other ones causing me to have two of each, as a result minecraft does not run.

Sorry its been a few days. I just wanted to thank each of you for your help. After using Win-RAR to transfer the optifine files to minecraft, my problems are fixed! If anyone else ever has this problem, I strongly suggest following the advice within this thread. Thanks!

This should not happen since you used winrar, you might have deleted the aux.class somehow. Try force updating your minecraft.jar and install your mods again.

I've got the same sort of problem. I've got Doctor Zharks Mo' Creatures Mod, and the Millenaire mod on. They were working fine until I also installed the Mob Amputation Mod. Whenever I pressed "esc", or "E", Minecraft would crash. Thinking it was some sort of conflicitng mods problem, I removed all mods except for the Mob Amputation Mod. It still crashed. I got rid of Mob Amputation and replaced the other mods. It STILL crashed. Help?
