Yes, I am aware there are mod-installing tutorials in the Tutorials sections, and very helpful ones at that. But I know how to install mods to a Vanilla minecraft, I just need to know how to re-install them after an update. See, most of my attempts to add in mods ends in a crashing, save-losing mess. I've got some nice saves now and I don't want to lose them, but I do want to get the new 1.4.7 update. So, is there any specific procedure I need to follow to ensure MC doesn't crash and burn?
Backup your saves, and your config options. If you use the same mods, then it shouldn't be a problem.
Update to 1.4.7 then reinstall forge/modloader and the mods you're using. Then copy over the saves and config files that you've backed up.
This should prevent any ID mismatches, crashes and the such.
