So I wasn't exactly sure where to post this but I am having some difficulty with 1.4 and I was wondering if anyone knew a solution to this problem.
In this picture I have the sound turned down, running a smooth bit of FPS:
but, in this picture I turned my sound all the way up and got 1-4 fps and this huge yellow sound resource thing on the chart which most likely means something with the sound is causing my crazy fps drop making most of the game unplayable. (I've also seen the yellow part on the pie chart take up nearly the whole thing at one point.):
Any help would be greatly appriceated and I apologize if this in the wrong thread.
Hey, I just want to confirm I've recently started observing this EXACT same behavior on my wife's machine. It's lagging out much the same way, noticed it on our private SMP server, only in areas with lots of critters/animals.
When lots of sound going on the game lags out horribly, and the debug bar shows the same thing exactly coinciding with the lag, huge jump in sound usage percentage.
I am also having FPS drops when the game tries to play a lot of sounds at the same time. I had to separate my farm because my chickens were making me lag whenever I would go near them. and it happens a lot in the nether with the lava, ghast, music, going at the same time. if I turn the sound to 0 I have no FPS drop.
I get a very similar problem, however it only lasts a second or two, then it goes back up. However if get more than 10 blocks away and come back it happens again. There are a few points around our town that cause this lag. Hopefully someone can find out what's wrong.
Edit: After doing some tests, I have found that by putting 100 sheep in a cage and coming into sound range, I experience a ~.3 second fps drop, down to about 20 fps, from 60-70. With about 50 blazes added, i found the lag increased to ~.7 seconds, and brought the fps down between 5-10. The blazes also dropped my fps by 20 while they were rendered. On my server I experience 2-3 seconds of 0-2 fps, with only ~20 sheep nearby. Every time I see the sound section of the pie is taken much more. I think there must be something more than just lots of sound, in my case at least, possibly others. Also, all lagspikes are negated by reducing sound to 0%.

Thanks!

turning sound to 0% eliminates the lag entirely.
This is on 1.4.5
Anyone else?
