i was just playing singleplayer. mc 1.4.7 with optifine b2 ultra and sphax purebdcraft 128x. no other mods installed.

i'm just mining along and i get a crash to my desktop. oh well, happens from time to time, right? so i reload the game and reload my world. suddenly i'm suffocating in a wall. i die unable to do anything. i'm trying to whack the wall i've spawned in with my pick, but to no avail. not even sure why or how i spawned in this wall to begin with. unless it has something to do with the autosave in optifine?

i still think i'm okay since i can just high tail it back down the mineshaft from my spawn (bed) and pick up all my stuff. except when i get to where i died, my stuff is ENTIRELY GONE, and there's NO WAY it took me more than 30 seconds to sprint back down the shaft.

so what the hell happened?

i know this game is buggy and it can just crash from time to time. i've learned to live with that. but why would i respawn inside of a wall that i haven't mined out yet? and why did all my stuff disappear instead of falling down into the shaft so i could retrieve it? i mean i didn't have a ton of important stuff on me, but still... what a pain re-crafting a full set of iron tools and some iron armor and so on and so forth!

Corrupted World? Maybe the chunks you explored didn't save and you logged out when you were in that chunk?

Of course, probably not possible because it doesn't register your steps if not saved. Try to recreate the bug in Vanilla and send it to Mojira, Mojang's Bug Tracker. May be Optifine error, or a texture pack resolution is too high. Is your Optifine updated? Are you having other problems?

Your player position is saved more often than the blocks that have been changed. All the blocks you mined got reset, but your play position was the same so you spawned in the blocks and suffocated.

It happens from time to time.

Something like this happened to me before... weird :/

optifine was just updated to b3, but when i try to load it, my game crashes instantly as soon as my world loads. so i reverted back to b2. i don't think it's a texture pack issue. i have a quad-core cpu, 12 gigs of ram, and a radeon hd 6870. the game is installed on a 128 gig ssd. i think that hardware should be able to handle a 128x tex pack. i'm also running 64-bit java with 6 gigs of my ram allocated to minecraft.

i'm gonna try to get in touch with the developer of optifine i guess. i have autosave set at 3 minute intervals, and i'm thinking maybe what happened is the game crashed almost simultaneously as an autosave was happening, and somehow the last few blocks i had mined didn't register in the save file, and yet my position did. something weird like that, anyway.

Once i enderperled into a unloaded chunk it was terrible

i changed the thread title since this issue has been solved, but i guess i don't have sufficient privileges to be able to close my own topic. a mod may close this as they see fit.
