First of all, don't compare Minecraft and BF3 or so. BF3 using mostly videocard processing power, as it has already generated terrain and pre-installed objects. MC using mostly CPU, as it needs to generate new lands, calculate monster pathes, update blocks, etc. And I'm pretty sure that's all from your processor - it's not powerful enough to process shaders too.
Also.
1) Update your OptiFine. Did you tried multithreading, advanced opengl? Maybe you have AA/AF turned on to too high value?
2) You gives to MC 4 gb, and have only 6 installed. This means that you easily can reach memory limit and starting intensive using swap file, so you can have tons of lags from this.
3) If you really want to know with what resource you are limited, get Process Explorer and watch on CPU/GPU/RAM/HDD charts while playing Minecraft.
Some possible fixes for your problem:
1. upgrade processor (it seems kind of low idk why)
2. allocate more RAM to JAVA (you can google it)
3. make sure you set priority to -high- on task manager. you can download a program to save the priority on each program.
4. use windows basic instead of aero. If they still do that stuff for windows 8, i haven't upgraded XP
5. Learn to overclock your video card. (be careful)
EDIT:
You should also try Defragging! get this thing called Defraggler. it's free and it defrags your hard drive to make load times a bit faster. it should also reduce a little bit of strain. Be careful though because it can take a while to defrag.
and about what that other guy said, do not modify your minecraft further. if your minecraft already lags with shaders, best not put more strain on the computer.

Retired StaffEven with new video cards when running shaders 60-80 fps is about as good as it gets.
Shaders are hugely demanding on the GPU, it needs to keep recalculating each shadow and then render it.
