I'm having some trouble installing the TMI mod for minecraft. I've done the steps correctly but when I try to run my minecraft it tells me that the .jar file is invalid or corrupt. I've done this with many other mods too, such as the Aether for example, and got the same results. I've never seen or heard of anyone else with the same problem as me. My computer is running Windows Vista. Can anyone help me figure out what is happening and tell me what I need and what to do with it?
are you installing the mods exactly as the instructions say, modloader or forge (depending on which you need) aswell?
Yes I am I said it right in the description of my problem. I did the modloader (I dont need the forge) and the TMI mod both correctly. And yes I DID delete the meta inf. If I dont it wont even let me open my minecraft. (which is propably why they tell you to to that. [I dont know why])
Clean out you minecraft completey. Backup your saves folder and your texture packs, and then delete everything in the .minecraft folder. Run minecraft, and it should give you the latest version. Now close it. Now install the version of TMI for 1.4.7 (this won't be the latest verison because TMI is updated for snapshots too). Now minecraft should run fine. If you have any trouble installing any mods, let me know; I'll be happy to help.
Quick side-note: be careful with the Aether mod. There hasn't been an official update since Beta 1.7.3. To install it, clean your minecraft like I described earlier. When you download it, you should get a minecraft.jar that you replace the one in your bin with. I believe there's also an option to download it with TMI already installed.

I hope this helped!
I haven't tried to install the Aether scince 1.2.5 but thanks for the info! Second of all, I did the exact same thing you told me to do. I deleated my minecraft (after making a backup) and installed a fresh one like most of the Aether installation tutorials I've seen, so it would be pretty similar. I've tried that, and doing it without using a fresh one, same thing happens. I'm sorry for not mentioning that earlier.
