I'm running FTB DireWolf and I get huge lag spikes every 10 seconds or so. I have it set to Far and Fancy with a 128x texture pack, and I get ~60FPS on average. However, during one of these lag spikes I get less than 3. They only last about a second but they're extremely annoying. I don't notice these lag spikes right after I've booted my PC and started playing; rather, it seems to happen more and more the longer my PC has been on and the longer FTB has been running. When I look at the memory usage in the F3 window when these lag spikes are happening, right after a lag spike it is at about 80% and climbs at about 2% per second until it hits 99% - then it stutters (the lag spike) for about a second and then returns to 80%. I have 1GB allocated (that was how it was when I first played). I also have an FX-6300, an HIS 7870 and 8GB of 1866MHz RAM.
Anyway, I believe this is caused by a memory leak with Java. I'm using the latest Java 7. Any help here?
Add some more memory. That fixed it for me. There really is a hell of a lot going on in FTB. I had to step it up to 3 gigs of memory at one point...
Then again, I had 4 quarries running at max speed with an auto sorting system that included an induction furnace, rotary macerator, and compressor for 5 different ores, and 17 recyclers running at once.
All that in a single mystcraft world.
Just allocate more memory. You kind of need to once you expand a whole lot.
However I've noticed my usage never goes over 2gb with mystcraft's leak. If you have less than 2, your game will stutter though, due to how Vanilla loads chunks in other dimensions around spawn and how Mystcraft/Forge does dimensions.

It does also depend on how many chunks you're keeping loaded persistently.

I have quite a bit going atm. However nothing to stressful. FTB I only give 1GB atm, default that it gives. Not had any issues.
