cannot initlize the Java VM in multiMC when starting another instance

I'm trying to mod with Multi MC however I get the error message below when ever I finish modding with multi MC I have my allocated memory set to 2048 and it has worked before, now it's saying Java has run out of memory and I can't play minecraft

Error occurred during initialization of VM

Could not reserve enough space for object heap

Could not create the Java virtual machine.

Minecraft exited with code 1.

Minecraft has crashed!

is this a problem whith MultiMC, Minecraft or did the IT guys just do a Bad job on my computer?
