So the bat noises are driving me batty (hah) and I can't for the life of me figure out how to permanently delete the folder that has the noises. Everytime I log back into the game, it reinstalls the sounds! I've tried deleting the entire 'bat' folder, as well as just deleting the sound files inside, and sure enough it regenerates next time I log into the game

I don't want to just turn the sounds off cause I like all the other ones, but the bat ones are just... not cool. Especially since my house is built over a cave system lol

Anyway the folder I was deleting was minecraft -> resources -> sound3 -> mob -> bat

and that minecraft folder is the one in application support

The mods I have installed are Reis minimap, backpack mod, too many items, metallurgy 2, enchantingplus, ironchest, craft guide, and timber

you can't just delete the files, minecraft will re-download them.

you need to make a file yourself that's silent, or has the sounds you'd rather heard, then replace the real file with your new file

Um, how do i get a 'silent' .ogg file then, to replace the ones in the folder? I'm assuming you just make as many copies as in the folder, and rename each one to match the file name, right?

but if i can't find a silent file ... maybe ill make it the cow sounds. anything would be better than that screeching hehe

Okay so I found a way to make it silent, using Audacity, and I replaced every single file in the folder with one of the same name, but silent, and the same thing happened. As soon as I started minecraft, it reverted them back to the originals!

So i tried turning my wifi off, and I deleted the bat folder, and was able to play the game without the bat squawking, but realistically i want to be online while playing and i can't imagine there isn't an easier way to fix this? Is there a way to stop bats from spawning all together? This way it doesnt' matter what their sounds are since there won't be any.

Help really really appreciated. It's at the point I can't even play anymore without turning the sounds off completely The bat noise does horrible things to my OCD

So I still haven't had any success with this problem, and have resorted to turning off my wifi everytime I play the game now :/ If anyone can give me some more assistance it would be greatly appreciated. If I could just deactive the spawning of bats completely, that would be fine too.

Not sure if you're still having this problem but this mod helped when I had it. I figured I should spread the love (because I haaate bats so freakin' much)

Hi! Sorry to pull this post up again, but I have Mo Creatures and I can disable bats with it. Well, there's a "spawning menu" and we can set any animals spawning "rate" (not sure, MC not running right now, anyway we don't care you see what I mean) to 0 so they don't spawn... Maybe it's a big thing but if you download it, you can get rid of the bats and any other annoying animal?
