I had a question. i have a server and i am the admin and the operator. i have the server software from the minecraft website.i use hamatchi. there are only two people on the server. we both have "Rei's Minimap" (pure awesomeness on the modders behalf). my question is, if i downloaded a mod and i used it, but my friend didn't have it, what would happen? this might be an extremely stupid question, but i was wondering. i hope i am not breaking any rules or posting this on the wrong page or something! i am new to this form.
If you install a mod that he doesn't have, nothing will happen for him. You'll get to use the mod, he won't. If it's a server mod, something that you have to install into the server, not your client, (like one that adds new blocks, items, etc.), then his client will crash.

Actually, his client will not crash, but will prompt that he cannot connect to the server. Heads up, single player mods have no effect on multiplayer such as Rei's Minimap and Inventory Tweaks.

Since when? I thought that it was that when the server specified a block that the client doesn't know what it is, the client would crash. Was this fixed?

Might be forge only. I am not really sure though.
