I have had no problems with a modded game for a few weeks until now. FPS in old chunks dropped massively and block breaking lag became painful (0.5 of a second or more) all over, in 1.4.5 after 1.4.6 came out (or thereabouts? - coincedence?). I didnt update to 1.4.6.
Because of the issue, when all mods were available in 1.4.6, I updated on a fresh .jar and it seemed to fix the problem in my save game a little but now I am on 60-100+ fps outside of my home chunk and down to an unplayable 6-8 FPS in my home chunk no matter how low I put all my settings!!!
I have the following pc
Core i5 2500K OC to 4GHz
8GB RAM
Asus GForce GTX 560ti Direct CU
64 bit windows
64 bit Java 7 Update 7
Minecraft client has 4gigs RAM allocated via bin file.
The following mods
Forge
NEI
ExtrabiomesXL
Mystcraft
NEI Plugins
Rei's Minimap
Crudedragos's Project Zulu
Thaumcraft
Twilight Forest
Mob Spawn controls
I dont have any portals etc or even thaumcraft stuff (been exploring....lots!!). Oh and I am playing survival large biomes.

No I created the world with all mods plus some HUD mods i have left out this time around.
I just reloaded and checked again. My home base is a village on the side of a cliff in a forest. I am hoping all the villagers die leaving me their houses to interconnect. When I look up at the house on the pinnacle frame rates drop to virtually nothing and their is a door continually opening and a squid man running across the sky over an over. I have previously noted there seems to be something crazy spawning up there. Maybe i have 1 million villagers spawning exponentially in their secret hideout on top of the hill.
.....if so perhaps I have an error and I am srewed.....oh well!!!
Tried to get up their to see whats going on but the game virtually freezes and I noted the ladders I placed disappeared anyways!!!
I really don't know what to say then... Oh you could open your world in MCedit export all of the stuff you want to keep into a folder. Then just delete the problem chunks. After that load your world in minecraft, and put the stuff back via MCedit.

I now dont think theres a fundamental problem with the mods or my setup? If I could figure out what caused the error I would log a report in the relevent mod thread.
