Normally, my modded Minecraft runs wonderfully on my computer. However, earlier today when I was playing on a LAN world with my brother, minecraft ran out of allocated physical memory and, essentially, froze. It continued to do that after restarting after running the game for a certain amount of time. Within the minecraft launcher that I have (MultiMC, a great launcher I would recommend to anyone) you can tell the program to automatically allocate more memory to minecraft within one of the "options" tabs. If I allocate more than approximately 1250 MB to the program, when I initialize minecraft (even a vanilla instance of the game), I get this error:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.
Minecraft exited with code 1.
Minecraft has crashed!
I know that my computer has enough memory to handle this. It has 8GB of physical memory and has almost 6GB available upon starting minecraft. I also tried uninstalling Java and reinstalling it, but that didn't change anything either.
While searching for a solution to this problem, I found that if you allocate memory to vanilla minecraft launcher and have both 32 bit and 64 bit Java installed, this error will occur. I haven't found any traces of a 64 bit version of Java on my computer (my computer runs on 32), but I suppose that could still be the problem.
It would be wonderful if I could get some help from someone a little more knowledgeable in matters such as these. I apologize for my long winded explanation, but I hope that it will assist the person who helps me.
If you need a list of mods installed on my launcher or further system specs just let me know.
32 bit software has a limit of (i think) 1.4GB ram maximum, so trying to allocate more will make the system be all confused.
you'll need to upgrade to 64 bit os to be able to make use of all of your ram
