My university has a server, and we have decided to change our vanilla server to become a FTB server.
Is there any way at all to keep our same map and move it to become a FTB map with all ores? A lot of the members (myself included) would like to keep our progress on the map, and our server cannot run 2 worlds at a time.
I have tried just copying a vanilla world, but no ores get added. Some people have told me they would be added in new chunks that load, but that's not really any good. And others have said to generate a new world and use a mod to copy things from one world to the other, but I don't think that would work either.
You could keep the vanilla main world, but use a mystcraft (part of FTB) age to get the new ores.
You could start over fresh, new world.
You could explore new chunks to get new ore.
You can use MCedit to copy existing buildings into a new world.
I actually have both, and for FTB, you will pretty much need to make a new world to get the spawned ores. Now, I would wait if you could, as you will need to do that for thaumcraft and redpower packs when they get released. For right now, my FTB world is a f'off realm until it gets all finished, then its for real.
