I've been using optifine with minecraft for a long time now. It was working fine with the "big scary update" aka 1.4.2. Now with the latest version optifine is not working smoothly :(. I have other mods but none of them are causing issues, it only happens when I add optifine. I tested for compatibility by removing all other mods except the required modloader and forge, the problem persisted. What happens is that when I create a new world it takes unusually long to load. Then in the world everything is blank for while before things finally start to load. If I lose patience and quit at this point the game will crash. When chunks finally do load, things are messed up. Missing chunks and slow updating occurs every time I play. If I quit the world after the initial blank screen it doesn't crash and I can reload it but the problems are still there. Please someone help me I am very desperate at this point. I can't play minecraft without the optifine features that I am used to now. I'm using the latest versions of all the mods that are compatible for minecraft 1.4.5.
If you are using modloader with forge that could be the issue.
Forge has it's own modloader (Forge Mod Loader - FML) built in now (since late 1.2.5) as of 1.3.2 they conflict with each other and cause problems when used together.
The FML works with most mods written for modloader, but it doesn't work the other way around.
I have a kind of problem here, I googled it but nothing, when i install optifine alone on a fresh Minecraft copy it makes my computer lag even more than without, usually I get 90-120 fps and with optifine around 20 only. I'd like some help please, I have this problem with manual and automatic installation.

That was it. Last time (1.4.2) I had only FML. This time I tried both again and that caused the problem. I thought I had already tried it without ML but I guess I didn't. ML has been pretty much replaced by Forge though so no worries. Thanks a lot.

EDIT: New version of optifine (D4) solved all problems!
