Ok so let me start off by saying that when I first started attempting to install MCPatcher a few days ago I was having issues with the black screen appearing after my login screen. I was downloading MCP strictly for the use of texture packs at that point and didn't fully understand what I was doing (which I clearly still don't...lol). I was able to get MCP working however by removing the texture packs from the TP folder and starting with a fresh Minecraft download.
So I've spent the last several days downloading texture packs with no problem whatsoever and installing them via MCP. Today I decided to download an HD Skin mod which required that I have Forge installed. I went through the process of installing both the mod and Forge and they both installed fine, however whenever I tried to enter the game, my UI would appear over a black screen and then the game would crash. I immediately uninstalled Forge, the HD Skin mod, MCPatcher, the Minecraft app, the Minecraft folder containing my saves and texturepacks and such, and finally another Minecraft folder that only contained two files labeled "client" and "server". Now whenever I install Minecraft it works fine in a plain vanilla version but I'm having the same issues as before with MCPatcher not working. The difference being that this time I don't have any unnecessary folders in place that need removing. I've noticed that the latter "minecraft" folder containing "client" and "server" no longer exists but have literally no idea what I can do to try and fix this at this point as I've already attempted every troubleshoot I can find.
On a side note just a few things I was thinking about that may be having an impact: before all this happened and MCP was working, the "I" button was used for my inventory and achievements were not working in my game...now it's the "e" button and they are activated. Also, in order to download the HD Skins mod I had to join the website from which the mod was created. I then selected an HD Skin thinking I would be able to use it before the crashes started, but I have since deactivated that skin to no avail. The site does directly link to my Minecraft account however and could therefore be possibly having an effect?
And of course for no freaking reason at all the issue was resolved after I spammed the "patch" button 10 times. I'm not even kidding...it's the only thing I did differently. Sorry for the waste of space.
