I have a good computer, but I usually get lag spikes in the nether, I have wanted to fix this problem, but nothing works. My computer specs: Nvidia GTX 660 2gb graphics I5 3.4ghz 1 tb harddrive And I can run full settings in the world besides the nether perfectly with over 60 fps. I also have optifine for HD texture packs
1. Get the mod called optifine. Even if your computer is good Optifine can help http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249637-145-optifine-hd-d3-fps-boost-hd-textures-aa-af-and-much-more/
2. The nether is incredibly laggy due to the massive amount of lava and light levels, A mod that has been outdated for quite some time did a small fix for this but as I said it is outdated, You could try lowering the settings a bit when your in the nether since view distance doesn't really need to go past short, However if you get optifine you can change it to short +32 and that will be a perfect view distance in the nether.
3. Their isn't really a way to just remove the lag since Minecraft is full of sloppy coding and runs on java, Be glad you can play the game that well but you are probably going to have to lower some settings for the nether.
