I have made a small modpack for my friends and one of them has a linux computer. The modpack is version 1.2.5. He downloads my modpack, installs it correctly(He takes out his .minecraft file and replace with the modpack .minecraft file) but when he runs minecraft, instead of working, it logs him in then he gets a black screen. I think its just because his computer is bad and is taking its time to load the 29 mods, but is it a problem with the .minecraft file? Can mods only be for one type of system? It works on mine, which is a windows.
Mods are not OS specific. But I think the problem comes from this : (He takes out his .minecraft file and replace with the modpack .minecraft file)
It sounds like you are changing other files inside the .minecraft folder. (Also, your aren't supposed to be transferring most of the files in the .minecraft folder)
He'll need to make any changes to the minecraft.jar file on his own. So tell him what files to put into the jar, and the proper order. Don't forget to tell him to delete the META-INF first.
You can send him everything inside the /mods/ folder and the /config/ folder.
