Today I installed soartex and dokucraft just to try out some new packs, when I log in after turning on the texture pack im usually around 100-150 FPS and everything loads just fine. I can move items in my inventory with 0 lag, run around with no lag and even break objects.
However when I do break objects, say a wood block it simply comes back, over and over as if It never broke, even if it does break however it can take several seconds to have the item register im standing on it. When I click on a chest it takes nearly 8 seconds for the chest to respond.
This only happens when I use texture packs, I haven't tried the lower 16x16 or 32x32 texture packs as this really isn't an fps issue. (Speedtest = 48mbps) so the lag would server side. Is there a way to fix this that doesn't involve just turning the packs off for good as I see plenty of people online using them just fine.
Windows 7 (64 bit)
AMD Phenon II X 4 955 processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 4 Gigs (soon to be 8)
GFX: Radeon HD 6870 (my graphics drivers are also fully uptodate using 12.10 catalyst)
My fps never seems to be an issue even when blocks are respawning my fps is still great. I also tried using Mcpatcher. This fixed the problem seeing fire in dirt but not the lag.
