I am new to minecraft and would really like to mod my game becfore I go out and explore my world. Problem is I have no idea how. I try to watch videos on how but there are either comments about the instructions not working or the requirement for this WinRAR I keep hearing about, which I do not have nor feel like spenting $30 for. Can anybody please give me step by step instructions on how to mod my game that even a computer noob can understand? Pretty please???
i suggest you look at multimc, its a client that does the modding for you, not need to mess about with moving files into jars and the like.
each mod should have instructions on the forum page, if they don't then its not a very well packaged mod

I have multiMC but I am unsure what files go into what folders. I am trying to get the mo' creatures mod. I currently have that file and the three other required files. are they considered jar files or core files?

I'm trying to mod my minecraft with MultiMC, but when I try to log in like the tutorial says to, I get a message that says Minecraft has crashed. What am I doing wrong?

Read the forum thread for each of the files. They all have install instructions and will tell you where they should be placed. Coremods is a new feature, and not very many mods use it so far. I really only know of Chickencodecore and Not enough Items that go into coremods.
Also. Mo Creatures isn't updated to the newest version of Minecraft yet. So, it won't work, unless you use MultiMC to downgrade minecraft to version 1.3.2

I don't get any of this, I went to upgrade my MultiMC but is appears to have downgraded so it no longer has those tabs for different mods and the sidebars so I tossed all for mods into the mod folder. Can someone PLEASE tell me want to do, I don't know where to find this info and when I do I don't understand. I feel like people are being too vague with responces,. I need step by step detailed instructions that a 10 year old can understand, otherwise I screw everything up, literally. I have no experience with modding Minecraft, in fact I barely have any experience with computers. Why does modding have to be so difficult?! Everyone says its easy...

Have you watched the 3 videos in the multiMC thread? The 2 by Direwolf20 do a good job of explaining How to use MultiMC.

Yes I had made game before getting MultiMC. Does this mean I can't mode that particular game? I started watching the first video by Direwolf20, but when I got to the part of putting the mods into MultiMC I ran into the problem. I managed to get the Mo Creature mod into the core mod folder, but for some reason I can't get the other three that were required into the jar folder. Do those three need to be in the core mod folder also?
You can mod that game if you want to, we'd have to move it into the multiMC install location. However the added stuff from Mo Creatures won't likely show up in any of the areas you have already explored. There is a chance they could, I'm not really sure how the creature spawns work. If you really want to move it let me know, and I'll try and walk you thru it.

I've seen that, but it's vague, I don't understand and I don't know my way around the files and folders. That and minecraft. jar needs WinRAR to run doesn't it? I don't have WinRAR.

Ok, I have the custom mob spawner and the mo creatures mod into the mod folder without trouble. But for some reason I can't drag the other two into the jar file. When ever I try a thin black bar flashes when I hold the files over the file and won't appear there when I drop them. I have tried to use the add button to import the files but it won't let me. When I select the folders and click open, it brings me into the folder. I also can't copy and paste. What should I do? Is this a glitch?

Just to let you I had a friend come over and show me how to mod using the WinRAR method so I now have mods working. Thanks for all the replies everyone, they were appreciated.

Retired StaffWas the game made before you started using MultiMC? If Yes. MultiMC saves minecraft to a different location then the default launcher.

Retired StaffIn the Mo Creatures thread. It tells you exactly where to put each of the files. (none of them say coremods so none of them should be in coremods) http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/81771-132-mo-creatures-v404-with-turkeys-flies-bees-crickets-dragonflies-fireflies-snails-butterflies-and-pandas/
There is even a video that walks you thru the process.
Since you are using MultiMC you don't have to unzip the files, you just need to add those zips to the jar tab in multiMC

Retired StaffForge and Gui API In the jar
Mo creatures and Mob Spawner in the mods folder
None of them say Coremods, so none go in coremods
Then follow the instructions in the videos from the MultiMC thread on how to put them in the proper location.
