I'm not sure if this is where I'm supposed to post this, but lately I have had an issue that has made minecraft virtually unplayable. It was fine up until a week or two ago. I had Optifine and the Minimap mod installed. Any time I try to put items from my inventory to a chest, it appears to go into the chest until I reopen the chest or my inventory, where it reappears in my inventory like it was before I put the items in. I tried deleting my bin folder and reinstalling optifine and it still had an issue. It seemed fine before I reinstalled optifine, and even at first it seemed to have gone away, but then it came back again. Any ideas on what is wrong?

Sounds like server lag to me. I've had it with the starter chest a couple times.

Grab the ax and start chopping wood then pause for a moment to check my inventory and the ax disappears only to reappear in the chest.

This is on my singleplayer mode, so that's why I'm so confused. I have decent fps and it doesn't seem to be lagging at all.

Is there any way to fix this so that I can still use optifine? My computer's pretty bad, so if I can't use optifine, then I'm not really gonna be able to play much anyways due to the fps issue.

I do NOT use optifine and have this same issue on My Server. No one else on the server seems to have the issue. I force updated my client, updated java, restarted my PC, anyone have any ideas for me?

I also had someone watch as i put in and moved items in a chest -- they never saw the items be placed or moved around. when they moved items around in the chest i saw it just fine. I am going crazy with this. Hope someone can help

I am using vanilla minecraft most recent update and have been having this problem since before the update. thought it was just lag however it happens on any machine i am using and whether its server based or single player.

My suggestion for all of you, reinstall Java, and delete .minecraft folder, start vanilla client see what happens.
PS By deleting .minecraft folder you're deleting all your saves
