So I have no idea if it's the mods affecting this, but help is appreciated.
I finally decided to go in search of the stronghold so I could get to the end. I used my ender eyes and found the spot where it was at, dug straight down and never found anything, dug all around and didn't find anything, used the tnt bug to see through the walls and didn't see a stronghold, used an xray and didn't see a stronghold, but I did find an abandoned mineshaft, so obviously my ender eye took me somewhere stupid. But that's not all, I actually found part of the stronghold using the tnt bug again, went over to it and was relieved, spent a few minutes exploring it and realized it's only a few rooms, and using xray there was no other stronghold parts around, it was just these few isolated rooms and didn't even have the end portal. So I have no idea if there's an actual completed stronghold on the map, but how am I supposed to go to the end without cheating if there is none? Anyway, I have Forge, Optifine, ReiMinimap, Inventory Tweaks, Too Many Items, CraftGuide, and TF2 Teleport, none of which seem like they would affect the generation of my stronghold. So, just a one time rare bug or is something wrong?
The terrain generator is apparently incapable of discriminating between strongholds and standard blocks, as map generation features such as Underground Ravines and Abandoned Mine Shafts cut indiscriminately through strongholds, often making the strongholds difficult to navigate.
Additionally, stronghold sizes vary, so it may be that you found a smaller stronghold where a mine shaft cut through many rooms, one of which might've been where the end portal was. In which case, tough luck. There's always the 2 other strongholds generated, you might have better luck with one of those.
I guess I'm really not caught up with Minecraft at all, there are 3 strongholds? How do I find the other ones since the ender eyes only take me to one?
The eye of ender will direct you to the closest end portal near you. It's bad luck that you were near a stronghold that was diced up badly. There are 3 strongholds generated per world, all within a certain distance from the origin (0,0), NOT from spawn. Some third-party mapping programs (I've used tectonicus) can help you locate the coordinates of the strongholds.
If you're feeling clueless, just spending a good half-hour reading through random articles on the wiki can help out a lot. Most information you're looking for can be found on the wiki.
