Hey guys, I'm kind of a n00b at this stuff, so bear with me...
I'm trying to update the game on my MacBook Pro, and only have one mod - Rei's Minimap. My game still starts up and plays perfectly fine, but when I try to update to 1.4.2, it can't find the files in my library. I originally had a folder so I could download update, move the mod back in, and everything was perfect. Now, I can't find any trace of the folder on my Mac! I even looked in my backups on my external hard drive, and I can't find ANYTHING relating to minecraft on there either, other than the application itself.
I wish I could help, but I have a problem of my own. I can't update at all. I did try to install a mod, but I think I just messed everything up (oops). I tried force update, but that doesn't work. I've seen a lot of people say to delete the minecraft.jar, but idk what that will do or if it will affect my worlds or multiplayer. I don't want to mess things up more!
Crust, you can delete the jar or even the bin folder with out it affecting your saves or servers.
jfrocks, I know mac hides the minecraft folder by default. It's something about command clicking on finder when you search for it, and that will show the folder... But I really don't know mac well.
I know you can use MultiMC and that installs minecraft to a different location (what ever folder you put multimc into) and you don't have to deal with trying to find the hidden folder.
MultiMC also makes installing mods much easier.
Also note, you'll likely need to wait for Rei's minimap to update to 1.4.2 (if it hasn't already, I didn't look) before it will work. Mods are written for specific versions of minecraft, so you need the version of the mod for the version of minecraft it was written for.

What? Mac dosen't hide the folder... It is unhidden... right at ~/library/application support/minecraft
Not an insult, just trying to help.

Any ideas?
