Ok, so for mods.. well I have downloaded some, and when I try to move them to my bin minecraft folder it wont open and when I click it it says A Java Exception has occured.. and I reinstalled Java, and it still didnt work, and It eventually went to where I couldnt even run minecraft so I just reinstalled minecraft too and left it alone from there, but I really want a solution or some help.. And also.. I tried to download a map(World) and I put it under saves and it just deleted all my worlds and reset my stats, and it didnt even work.. Lol xD
So please some advice?
First off..this might be better off in mods section...not sure though.
Second, tons of mods require ModLoader or Magic Launcher in order to run. You may have to install those first, and then install your mods. I would suggest getting Magic Launcher if you want stuff like Optifine to improve your FPS. Magic Launcher is easy, intuitive, and requires no messing with the .jar file. Another issue is that in order to install mods, you need to open your .jar file. To do this you will need WINRar or 7-zip (both free.)
Third, I can help you with installing custom maps. Follow these steps below:
1. Download your map of choice.
2. Put it on the desktop, right click it, and select "extract all."
3. This un-zips it and creates an un-zipped file. Pull out the world file from it. This file should contain DIM-1, Region, level.dat, level.lock, etc. sub-files. Leave those alone, what you want is the full world file.
4. Type in %Appdata%, go to .minecraft, go to saves.
5. Drop the un-zipped world file folder into the saves folder.
6. Open Minecraft, select the world, and play.
If you have any troubles getting a custom map to work, feel free to send me a private message and ask me for help. For mods, you may want to ask a more computer-saavy person.
