Hey y'all. I'm trying to get several mods working on my local client (1.3.2) and I am having trouble getting them working. I'm not really up on some of the terminology used here so reading through the install documentation is getting difficult.
I am trying to get BuildCraft, IndustrialCraft2, RailCraft, and Too Many Items all working together. I read Forestry integrates well too, but I am trying to keep it simple (stupid). I downloaded all the files for each and then I got three modloaders; Rigasumi's Modloader, ModloaderMP, and Forge. I did find out that Forge is supposed to replace modloader, but I'm not sure it works properly like that for these mods. I also picked up MCPatcher at some point, but I don't think anything said I would need to use it, or if it is even compatible for these. I also read that there may be other modloaders I need, but I couldn't figure out how to work them in with the one's I have. I also read topics stating that people had gotten them running without them too.
I followed the instructions that were included, or were on the website/wikis for each, but I can't get them to go. I managed to get TMI working on vanilla with only the modloader, and modloaderMP (without forge though). I then tried to do railcraft, but even though it was in the mods folder, it never showed up in game.I also tried to do buildcraft and industrilcraft on clean .jars individually, but no go on either of them.
If anyone has these running together, could they explain what to do. Some of the instructions don't make a lot of sense to me, and there are folders in some of these that have each other's names on them. I'm not sure what to make of that. I checked the forums, but my searches didn't return anything. Maybe I searched the wrong terms. If anyone knows that this is already here somewhere, I would really appreciate a link to it. The wiki's provide a lot of info, but I can't figure out the intercompatibility, or install process for them together.
I know I'm probly inviting flames, but I appreciate anyone that takes a read through my long windedness.
Install only the latest Recommended Forge, no ModLoader and no ModLoaderMP. These mods (except TMI) were designed to work with Forge only.
Install Forge and TMI into your minecraft.jar (remember to delete the META-INF folder from the jar). Run Minecraft and confirm you can run the game and that you can use the TMI interface.
Put BC, RC, and IC2 zip/jar files in your .minecraft/mods directory. Do not extract them.
Hope that helps!
Forge also has ForgeML, which is Forge's version of Modloader. It may not work 100% of the time, but it should make TMI completely work (some things dont work without Modloader) and all your other mods should work as well.
