This will be the first in a series I'm going to do of guides to show you some small, asthetically pleasing structures you can build!
The Swamp Shack is a small shelter with a loft for storage. It's great for starting out on a world, giving you security and storage space while still looking pretty cool! Let's get started.
These are the basic materials you'll need:
First, make a 9x9 square out of cobblestone, leaving the space shown empty.
Next, add a line of cobble all the way across the structure, two blocks back from the front. This will form the divider between the porch and the interior.
After that, fill the empty spaces with oak planks.
Next, add the 3x1 pillars of log in the places shown.
Now that you have the frame up, it's time to start putting in the walls. The front wall should look like this:
The right wall:
The rear wall:
And finally, the left wall.
Now, take your fences and make the front porch! (Note the wooden stair placed in the gap we left in the cobblestone earlier.)
Getting ready to add the roof:

Now use cobblestone slabs to roof the porch, and don't forget to add the windows to what will become the loft!
Now it's time for some work on the interior. Add a ceiling that will also serve as the floor to the loft.
Make sure to add a ladder so that you can get up there!
Some torches, to brighten up the place...
...and a handy workshop right next to the door!
Finish off the loft like so. (The chests will still function, because they're placed under stairs. You can also put a bed up here if you'd like!)
Add a door, and some torches to the outside, and we're done!
