This problem is characterized by having html code in the news panel, and being unable to log in through the launcher (error given is "Cannot connect to minecraft.net". Java is attempting to use IPv6, while the minecraft launcher wishes to use IPv4.

How to fix this:
I have made a program that will do this all for you if you are unable to follow the directions. The program may get flagged by your anti-virus as it is a new program and does not have a reputation yet. The program can be downloaded from here:
If you wish to fix it manually, then just follow the instructions below.
Step 1: Determining what version of java you have and whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit.
1. First we need to find out whether the operating system is 32 or 64 bit. To do this, press the "windows" key and “pause” at the same time. Next to System type it will say whether it is a 64 bit or a 32 bit operating system.
2. If you have windows 64 bit, then we will need to check to see if you have the correct version of Java. Go to control panel and look for all programs named Java (Caution: Do not uninstall anything), and see if any of them have (x64) Next to it.
3. If you are running a 64-bit system, and you do not have 64-bit Java, it is advised that you install 64-bit java from here.
Step 2: Forcing java to use ipv4
1. Right click on the launcher and select create shortcut in the same place as your minecraft launcher.
2. Right click on the shortcut and select properties, and in the area named “Target” put this in:
3. click apply, and start minecraft using the shortcut we just made. It should work, if not, then continue reading.
4. If this does not work, you are most likely receiving an error saying that it is unable to find the location of java. that means that we need to specify the location of the java.exe. Put this as the target in the minecraft launcher shortcut instead:
5. If this still does not work, then you should make sure that both the minecraft launcher and its shortcut are placed on the desktop. Sometimes having the minecraft launcher and shortcut in a folder can cause issues.
If this does not work, this could be because of some protocols set by your antivirus. The most notorious antivirus for doing this is McAfee. If this is the case, I would suggest getting a different anti-virus. The one I recommend is Microsoft Security Essentials.

My goal is to have all 4 of my PCs up and running with MC because my kids want to get into it.
I do have my main PC running the game and a server just fine.
So I also tried my upstairs PC too and I have the same problem and both PCs can't even play off line the message I get for that is it isn't downloaded.

This didnt work for me it said the process was complete but when i logged into minecraft the grey screen was still there
i can login to play single player tho but now i cant play mulitplayer
Ok, I seem to have solved my problem. Apparently I was running Two Java programs instead of one. Makes no sense to me, but thought I'd inform everyone not to address my post.
