About the Nividia cards, my MineCraft runs at about 35Fps with Optifine and some mods. Will doing the stuff with the Nividia control panel at the first post boost my FPS?
Okay, thanks. I was wondering why I got about 60 FPS with Guild Wars (an MMO with graphics on par with WOW), and only about half that on Minecraft. I'll go try it out, thanks.
Will you PLEASE do some further research into the method of what you did for nvidia graphics card for ATI/AMD graphics cards?
Hmm I tried for the third time and again found nothing, but I looked at the catalyst menu. As long as it looks like this and this isn't a picture of an outdated menu
From what I understand you go into profiles, applications and just add java.exe or minecraft.exe, try them out to see which ones work. But supposedly it seems to have troubles working with .exe's so if nothing happens create a shortcut to minecraft.exe and java.exe and see if they work then.

all "profiles" does at the top of the window is ask if i want to activate/make an account, nothing about applications, and mine looks exactly the same as that pic

Try making a profile, i'm pretty sure it was a required step but i thought it had a default profile
I can't find CCC on my PC when I have a Nvidia/ATI graphics card. The thing is that a Computer Person came over and installed a new graphics card, but when I go to Device Manager it doesn't show it. Would this explain why Right Clicking the Desktop and CCC doesn't appear? Can anyone tell me how to find CCC if this is the case.
CCC is only for ATI/AMD cards, nvidia uses their own panel. Just called nvidia control panel, have you tried Brian's method of finding it?
Well, my crappy 9-year old computer runs minecraft pretty bad. Although on most areas I stand there is no sign of lags, but when there's a (damn, dunno this word in english) erm... moving, flooding or running water (I hope you understood what I mean) near me it gives a hell of a lags. 20% my time spend in shafts is usually a process of finding and blocking all water flows. So the question is - is there any way to change something in the code to prevent waterfalls, flows and etc ? Or may be there's some mod already made.

I understood, all those 3 words were good, but as far as I know there is no mod that stops liquid from moving. Flowing water/lava is kind of an important part of the game. But if you really want/need it you should go to the mod request forum and ask for it
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved with this guide.
1.8 worlds were running like a dog for me, especially in multiplayer, whereas 1.7 worlds ran fine. Did the best performance, turned off indexer, updated java to 7 and lwjgl, and installed optimine, finally did the nvidia control panel javaw.exe trick. Now everything runs reaaaally well, I'm stunned!
@ElMarkodotorg, you're welcome and thanks! I'll say thanks for the people who told me about other tips since I doubt they look at the posts very often lol
@xXIkaron Nope, sorry. The 32 bit version of java has a hard limit of about 1536 mb I think, maybe 2048 mb. But I've never tested it my self, if you really want to try you can create a custom launcher with 4096.
Also has anyone ever searched up ways to speed up minecraft on youtube? Jesus there are sooo many videos of simply setting javaw on high priority but it takes them 5 minutes of typing on screen to do it, and almost all have terrible music
Hey, i would like to add a tip, sorry if its already in there;
Minecraft loads the already saved chunks from your hard drive, this can cause lag spikes because the pc has to give a lot of "attention"(I didnt know how to put it), so less "attention" goes to the java process. So try defragging your hdd sometimes, it helped a lot for me, my FPS is way smoother now, not higher, but smoother and more stable.
Yup that's in the quote from thatcandianguy, but its not pointed out very well, ill add it into its own section later
Wow thanks man this helped me so much! No video or guide anywhere told me to turn Advanced OpenGL to on.
My Minecraft went from 5-10 fps with low settings to 30-40 fps with everything maxed out, render distance normal, and without OptiFine :biggrin.gif:
Maybe I can finally run the Water Shader mod without lagg!
Thanks man I was searching for ages for this guide.
Thanks man! If you wanna help out some more you can always tattoo the url on your forehead! XD jk, but know I'm wondering, should I add a donate button? Don't worry I'd never use adfly, but donations? Hmmm...
*edit* donate button added, let the donation whoring begin!
Not a big deal, it's Meta-Inf, not Meta.Inf
Second line of:
Do - Mod your Minecraft
runs soother
I think you meant 'smoother.'
First line of:
Possibly - Download JRE7, the beta version of the new java.
Things that are not true:
Gabelams 4x4 Texture pack - Actually a simple 16x16 pack. Will not speed up your FPS at all.
If it's actually a 16x16 pack, you are still showing 256 pixels per block, it does not matter if they are all the same colour; It offers no real FPS gain.
A banner I made for you, because I like what you do, and was bored. ^-^
1. It's a must only for linux, optional on windows, not sure about mac, will change in the post that updating is highly encouraged though on all platforms
2. same difference, but should change it
3. Soother, lol
4. Simple texture packs do speed up for some people, my friend it helps him a lot, may depend on graphics card or some other variable
5. Dear god O.O it's so beautiful :'D
*edit* Hmm minecraft optimization guide, fits in because some of this is about chunk loading, but it's almost all about fps...... F*CK IT! It's the Minecraft Speed/Optimization Guide now
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks, I did it in about an hour before bed, I'm no pro, but I wanted something positive to go with my mostly-negative feedback. ^o^
Indeed :3
