my power went out when i was going into the nether and when i went to start a new game my file was gone! if you can fix that would be nice! P.S. if you have to delete or edit the nether thats ok. I hope you can fix it at all. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MZ05SNH1

Same here and as it turns out even though it rewound to before I was in the nether my house in the nether was still there.

When you create a new world, all minecraft does is create the level.dat.. If there is existing world info (if the world is the same name) that will still be there. Its a tactic some people use to fix/restore their worlds but its very risky. Glad you got yours back =D

Pretty much the normal. "something" occasionally causes minecraft to crap out, and some of the code to tell the game about your save is lost. The changes and checks I make restore that thing (I honestly don't even know what exactly it is, but I should probably find out) and then I put the player and start point at an easily recognizable place.
