Hey guys,

I ran into a little problem here. One day I was playing on my creative world, I was actually having lots of fun making my "town". During this day, I disconnected my Ethernet cable cause I needed to go offline, well I thought I'd work on my 1.8 world. So I did, then when I was done I saved it. Next day comes around, (have my cable hooked back up, so im online) try to play my creative world again, and BOMB ITS NOT IN THE MENU! So as you can proably expect, I was freakin the hell out. Then I was like... eh, maybe it didn't delete(cause why would it?) so I look in my minecraft folder, find my save worlds, and there it was! It's there but it doesn't show up ingame. So, my question to you guys, is how do I get it to show in my minecraft client and why did this ever happen? This is so weird, never happen to me ever!

Thanks so much for fixing my world. It wasn't much but its a pain to start all over again because of corrupt files.

Never mind I fixed it with MCEDIT.

So a long time ago, I had a map where all the players built really cool things, including me. I had built some of my first structures there, and spent a good solid 5 weeks straight on it. Now it has a problem. I have pictures and things of the map before, and now it is generating terrain right over my old builds! This means Im losing most of my stuff. All I have is the world folder, not the server things. This map was created before 1.8, but is MCRegion.

Also, using the level.dat_old and renaming it Level.dat (by also replacing the original) doesn't seem to fix the problem.

TLDR, It is making new terrain over old builds.

Question about a map generator, files are from awhile ago (map generator is Primoridal Desert), and while I'm not worried about the new structures added in 1.8, some tiles generated in that editor seem to have the wrong IDs for the new version.

Mossy cobblestone instead spawns brick, structures in the map made of ice spawn as glass, etc.

Is there a way to revamp or fix said IDs?

Overall the rest of the generator works without a hitch, just the problem I noted.

Pikmin Red: That sounds like some of the region files are disappearing and are being recreated as people explore it again. or possibly bad chunks. You're welcome to post it and I can take a look, but its hard to determine anything without seeing the issue myself.

Mazz420: I'm a bit confused. The issue you're describing doesnt seem to be a map corruption as far as I can tell. I've never seen brick or ice structure spawn so.. I guess.. I have no idea what you're trying to describe >.>

Hey, having a problem I hope you can help with.

My computer crashed a little while ago while I was playing, and now I can't properly start it. If I open the world, the loading bar hangs for a long time while Minecraft freezes, and suddenly it jumps to the menu with a black screen. If I try to go back to the game, Minecraft freezes again.

Once, by setting Minecraft to high CPU priority I got the world to display (I could see grass), but it still froze. My guess was that this was due to corrupt chunks or something similar, and I used Cartograph to find out where (pic is here: http://i.imgur.com/e7CrW.jpg) The last PC position was right next to the left one.

I attempted to use MCEdit to fix them but I just don't have enough experience with this.

So I have a broken world that I've spent hundreds of hours on. I've always been confused by the fact that the world save only contains the file "mods" in it (instead of the usual "data" "region" etc.), and that file only contains files for a few mods, yet it still worked fine. Because this was such an important world I decided to make a backup of it. After doing so, it no longer displays the world in Minecraft although the file is still there. I was also using 1.8. Please help me out. This is incredibly important to me.
