Here is my problem that I described earlier. A screenshot sums it up much better.
As you can see in the screenshot, that abrupt land cut goes on and on. Annoying.
Out of curiosity.. Is this from a < 1.8 map now running 1.8?
I noticed some weird stuff like that on ours aswell when 1.8 algorithm where combined with maps created under 1.7.3 and lower

No I created this map after 1.8 was released.
I came up with a simple fix last night after thinking about it. What I did was use mcedit to copy my house and slime farm then I moved them to a fresh game I made using the same seed. So far so good. I'll need to explore more in my new save to see if the game produces this weird terrain bug again.
Awesomefireguy: I dont really have a lot of expertise on getting the game itself to work. More specifically map problems. All I can do is recommend to try running a clean install of minecraft (back up your saves!), make sure your video drivers are up to date, and go from there.
tbahre: Handling via website, though it looks like the seed was lost/changed, and not necessarily a map corruption per se.
Jukst4r: What email did you use, or the name of the world? As the first post says, if you dont hear from me within a couple days, just post it again. I get 98% of them, but on rare occasion my host craps out.

Sorry, i didnt exactly know your email. Our server has problems every few months with our maps. They seem to get corrupted and we get severe lag spikes and the occasional crash. (these only happen near the end of the map like its been used for a while) We have world edit but only the real OWNERS have it. Also, we have a really good server provider so its not the internet or server (maybe). Do you think it could be the map? This time, we limited the map because the old ones got too big and we thought it was that problem, but now we are stumped.
Could you possibly fix this? i will send you the map once I hear back from you. I know that you're busy so there's really no rush
So i bought a new computer and copyed and moved all my server files over to it to run my old server on it and it did not work. When i loaded up the server everything seemed fine but it didnt fully load in the client

it just stops there. I made a thread about it and got no support so i decided to hook my old computer up in my living room just to run my server and im getting the same issue.
Please someone help me i dont want to have to start a new server ive made too much stuff to just go back to nothing.
blakekryptyk: I can certainly try. Also, what is 'too big'? Also also: All the instructions are on the first post. Just follow those and use the website.
andrewxcormier: As above, just hit up the website listed in the first post and Ill see what I can do.
Jukst4r: What is the problem with this map? I'm checking it now but you never mentioned what the issue is.

BlakeKryptyk: Holy crap. That.. IS huge. Um. Is there a reason why you need to have such a large map? I've stated before that I don't think there is anything wrong with having a large map (as in, it shouldnt cause problems) But thats more than 3x the size of the largest map I've seen.
The only real issue is... being that large, makes it VERY hard to move around or get fixed >.>

Hey voordal, yeah I'm an admin on a VERY popular server citywars.ca we ahve around 100 or so people on during certain hours so you can expect our maps to get huge. The latest map i'm trying to send you is relatively small, around 1-2 gigabytes, unfortunately I'm having trouble with getting the download.

Okay I have 2 things for you, a technique for saving a worlds seed data. And also a world to fix =(
First the good stuff....
You can make a world accept a new seed, even if the new seed is the old seed, if you can still somehow load into the world you can extract the seed via f3... (or hopefully you know what it is by heart because you set it your self) but for demonstration purposes i made a random world.
Once you have your seed put it into the world generator, make sure to set your game mode and structures the same. This information will be baked into these files here...
You can copy these files from your new world, into your old world! This will replace the bad seed/corrupted files with an authentic copy for your seed and will maintain your seed without rolling back any of your work. This will also fix your spawn location back to where it started if it has moved.
NOTE: 1.7 is the end of old biome code, 1.8 new biome code, you CAN NOT recover old worlds this way because the SAME SEED will NOT generate the SAME MAP. IMO the old code made better worlds but the new worlds have certain other advantages meh but any old world loaded into 1.8 or later will NOT i repeat NOT continue to generate under the old rules, any area you have not yet explored will generate under new rules and be completely different with an obvious seam.
Back to the subject at hand...
EXTRA CREDIT:
While you should always maintain the files above (i replace mine with a fresh copy every load just in case!) You can also enforce a seed though the server program. Below is a picture on how to set that up. You can use the Multiplayer program to play single player (if you have enough ram) which will also afford you other benefits besides seed enforcement.
My Problem:
My world wont save this chunk, so i figure it must be bad, While this world is 1.9pre3 i imagine you can fix it with your current methods, I can still modify this area as a non-op player, but once i shut down the server and reboot, (also in single player) it just wont save the changes. So its probably something wrong in the region files. =( (Location data embedded in the image) don't fear, its not far from spawn. Survival mode.
I use Windows 7. I started the minecraft_server.jar the first time with a rightclick, selecting open with java SE binary. That's when it did not create any folders, the server runs though, and the map is saved SOMEWHERE, meaning I can close the client and start again with the map still present.
Now, I tried to make a start.bat to run the server and that time it created the folders/files (World etc.).
Funny thing is now: If I use the start.bat it creates a new map wich is saved in the newly created world folder.
BUT if I open the minecraft_server.jar. with right click open with java SE binary again, it loads my old map (The one I want to save).
Help please.
search your computer for "new world" it will find all folders with that name... your world is one of them. make sure to include all directories in your search.

Bah, me again.... looks like my world may not be broken, it may be a rare server bug =( which in turn has no current solution. But if you could check it out for me...
Naveronasis: I appreciate the info, but I know that stuff already. Furthermore, most people come here because the seed is already corrupt, so really isn't much use to anyone >.>. Also, your download link is broken. What is the 'rare bug' you're having?

the download link is fixed. Random chunks though the map wont save... It said something on the wiki about SMP sometimes on certain seeds failing to save properly under known bugs.
From the wiki:
" * Full server world saves do not reliably save the entire world. This can be proven on a single person private server with whitelisting enabled when attempting to do a full server save via:
1. Disabling incremental level saving with 'save-off' on on Minecraft console.
2. Forcing a full save to disk with 'save-all' on on Minecraft console.
3. Archiving and saving the archived world with 'tar -xvzf save.tg world' or '7z a backup.7z worldfolder/' on shell in secondary system console.
4. Turning back on incremental level saving by doing a 'save-on' on Minecraft console."
Maby... I don't fully understand this bug. But it sounds like my problem... stuff, not saving, for whatever reason. Im not running any mods or using any console commands except the occasional set time 0 and or give player x of x so im not doing what it sais above, but misc chunks as pictured (16x16x) area's on the server if its up 10 minutes or 10 days will no longer save... yet others will.... i have completely reinstalled my server several times. Java several times, completely uninstall re-install. I have the .bat files to provide proper ram etc. No luck on the software end for me.
PS. I did manage to get them to save in single player (even though they would not before)! Now im really confused. D=

PPS: I dont know if/when you grabbed the download (it works now) but i fixed the church and crypt in single player, but it still wont save in multiplayer. This can be tested by putting cobblestone between the buildings.... then saving. Once you reload... the cobblestone is gone =(
NOTHING IS TRUE. EVERYTHING IS PERMITTED!
