(I THINK THAT I FIXED THE INCORRECT CHUNK. Don't WORRY about this anymore. Thanks though!! It was near the spawn to the east near the first lake. Hopefully things will be ok from now.)
Posted this for another recovery thread, but it seems you are pretty successful and skilled so I'd beg of you to help me as well if that is possible. I'm having serious problems with my world that I use for a server of multiple people. I have been trying for DAYS to save their work and figure out what is going on via MCEdit, but I'm just lost now... If you could help it would be immensely helpful.
Pretty much the level and server won't start. I noticed I get these messages in the java window. I've been trying to find a way to search for the coordinates that are listed via MCEdit, but no luck, i can't figure out the specific chunk mentioned either. At the end you'll notice it keeps repeating about a creeper being in a bad location or something. This repeats endlessly till the serverlog.txt is 12gigs (no joke)
I'm at a loss how to fix... please, please help. Let me know if you have any ideas or what is going on.

neon3001: I Checked your world and it seems to run normally. I didnt find your character anywhere strange. It might be a server setup issue? Make sure you have the newest server/client and a clean install and see if that works.

sorry voordal , i didnt make it clear enough . when i log in to the game and go to select a world its in the list and i can log in but not move without making it crash .
but when i go to the minecraft folder and look in saves i see my childrens files and my new world but then there are like 4 worlds that say new world 1 new world 2 ect,,,
i do not see " dads world " which is my old world any where in there .
only way i can think of determining which is which is by looking at the file size and see which one is the largest ?
* Update *
i took some ones advice from a earlyer post and changed my settings from fancy to fast and was able to move and have not crashed yet.. but i hate fast and want to play on fancy ,, my kids have had no issues ,, just my world..:sad.gif:
mical: It should say the name of the world as the folder as well. Try looking in your /saves folder. If you cant find it, just send the entire saves folder and Ill see if I can figure it out

I believe the see was called blah, why do you ask?
I believe the see was called blah, why do you ask?
Well, two reasons. One, the seed was lost in the file corruption. I fixed the world but the seed changed. Two, the original seed was apparently awesome, because it had two villages right next to eachother. I was hoping I could get it, but neither 'blah' nor 'Blah' seemed to work

Shall i give you the seed I currently have and see if that works? and i know! its so awesome :biggrin.gif:
Hey Voordal i recently got an update and it erased all my work i was pretty far into it i have the file on m computer i know were it is but i dont know how to actually get back to playing it?
hey man, me and my friends on my 1.8.1 server have not been able to connect to my server when this map is on, howver it works fine with other maps. I also cannot load this map in singleplayer(black screen) or in mcedit (freezes). If it matter this map was created in 1.8.1 with the vanilla terrain generator, and then played on using bukkit. The map worked for the first week or so and then stopped working. We have been working on a HUGE project on our server so all my friends would be really sad if we had to restart. All settings for our server are default if that makes a difference. thanks for helping :smile.gif:
I was running a small private SMP server, one of us fell in to the lava in a nearby abandoned mine and apparently the world got corrupted because of the orbs causing an item overload. Whenever any of us get into the area it causes a massive framerate drop, I didn't use any particular seed when creating the world and I'm frankly more interested in not losing the things we've built.
To get to the buildings just follow a setting sun.
Verbosetwo: What do you mean it 'erased all your work'? I've never seen an update do that. Have you checked in your /saves folder? If its there, check the original post on this thread.

I would post a screenshot of my problem (which would sum it up pretty quick) but since I'm at work right now that's going to have to wait till I get home tonight.
Basically I am getting some really strange terrain. By that I mean certain areas are completely normal then I will stumble upon a vast expanse where the land sheers off vertically into an ocean.
I had a pretty good feeling this wasn't normal so I used mcedit to delete the chunks. This kind of worked at first but generated different terrain in some areas. Now as of last night, after deleteing more offending chunks the messed up area just regenerates.
Have you heard of anything like this before? I'll post a screenshot later along with my world zip.

Thanks Voordal! I actually dont know how the entities got there, maybe a bug.
As you can see in the screenshot, that abrupt land cut goes on and on. Annoying.
