WORLD RECOVERY WEBSITE! GO HERE!
->>> MCSaver.net <<<-
In an effort to help people recover things faster and better, I HIGHLY recommend using the website as opposed to the forums, simply because I don't check it as much, and can't always access the forums. If you post your world on the forums, it may take longer to fix.
Moving on!
As wonderful as Minecraft is, sometimes crap happens and you end up losing all your precious work. Sometimes someone just built something cool, or have spent months and months building their world. It's not just time spent, but its art. If something gets lost, rebuilding it never quite seems the same.
The most common cause for lost worlds is the game crashing while saving, or computer crashing entirely. But there is hope!
1.6 and 1.7! THE "SAVING CHUNKS" FAILURE!
This is in regard to the issue where you load your map, it immediately says "Saving Chunks" and then crashes. It seems that 1.6 introduced a 'safeguard' feature that causes the game to save in the event that a non-renderable object is in the game. This is most common when you have a mod with odd items (Airships, guns, etc) that are not part of the standard game, and then the mod is removed, or the game is updated (removing the mod) and the game can no longer process it.
Things I can LIKELY fix:
- World save disappeared from minecraft, but the save file still exists in your computer
- World immediately goes to "Saving Chunks" when you load it, or does that when you walk near a particular area
- World loads normally, but you cant move, and mobs cant either, Â but you can still interact with your inventory and the environment you can reach
- Giant bedrock deep holes in your world
- Lag issues in SSP, or slow loading worlds
- Items in inventory or in chests from old mods causing the game to crash
- Massive (hundreds) of mob or animal spawns
- Often can fix 'null pointer' errors
Things I CANT fix:
- Launcher errors, or Minecraft crashing due to mods, or issues with internet or server latency issues, Video card errors.
- Problems with mods, unless it was a mod you cant get anymore and it makes your game crash. Ask in post.
- Account or Website problems
WHAT I NEED:
-A small description of your problem, eg "My world disappeared" or "I cant move" or "My game crashed and I cant play now"
-A zip file of your save. Saves can be found in the following places:
FOR XP: C:/documents and settings/(username)/application data/.minecraft/saves
FOR VISTA/7: C:/users/(username)/appdata/roaming/.minecraft/saves
FOR MAC: (username)/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves
Sometimes the appdata folder can be hidden by default, so just type it in, or turn off hiding system folders.
The save should look like this, and have at least these files:
/saves/WorldName/local.dat
/saves/WorldName/region/ (there are usually at least 4 .mcr files here)
Your save might have local.dat_old and session.lock, and many more mcr files. INCLUDE THOSE. You may also have a DIM-1 folder if you've been to the nether. Include that too.
Throw all that into the zip and upload it on Mediafire.com. Try to avoid using Megaupload.com or Filehosting.org if you can help it.
What to expect during/post fix
- I have found that worlds that disappear from the world list (corrupt level.dat) will lose their seed. This means that after the fix, you will have a new seed, and any new land generated afterwards will be different. It might even change your biome on current land. The only way to prevent/fix this is to provide a backup from before the crash. if you don't have one, I can still fix the world, but terrain/biomes may act odd.
- Very often, you will lose your items in your inventory. To compensate this, I include my MCSaver.net Care Pack with some items. If you are missing something particularly important, ask and I can replace that too.
- Fix time varies depending on how busy I am. Sometimes I can get them back within the hour. Sometimes it may take up to a day or two. If for some reason it is more than 2 days, and I haven't given a reason why, ask or resubmit. Sometimes things get lost in the mix.
KEEP IN MIND
- While I may be able to fix these issues, I have no idea how to prevent them. My best recommendation is to BACK UP YOUR SAVE. Once a week is fine. More if you like. If your world goes corrupt again, either just post again or use the fixed version I provided.
- One of the problems of minecraft crashing is sometimes you lose your inventory. If there was something particularly necessary in your inventory, let me know ahead of time and I can add that in. Most people don't care about that, and if they know how to use INVEdit, they're gold anyway to restore items.
- I don't and can't gaurantee anything. Sometimes acts of the digital gods are beyond our power to alter.
- I do not work for, or communicate with Mojang. I'm simply providing a service
- This is all stuff people can, in theory, fix on their own. I enjoy doing this even if it seems like it keeps me busy. If you want to know what I do, feel free to ask.
- If the above 'can and cants' dont fit your problem criteria, feel free to ask. I have ten years of professional computer tech background. The worst that can happen is being told "I'm not sure how to fix that, try going here or there"
Please please please do not post a comment to my profile to contact me, as I likely won't see it. Either post in the thread, or even better, use my website so I will be notified immediately.

ocomobock: I looked around, and what I found was 3 other areas of land, about 200,000 blocks out, but it just looks like untouched land. There weren't any buildings or anything there, so unfortunately it looks like the new stuff that was created may have overwritten your old areas.
That's too bad. But I kind of expected that. Thanks for looking around, though.
By the way, I seem to get the "Minecraft has run out of memory" message about 5 minutes after I play on that world you fixed for me called "My world", or "ocomobock". That only started happening recently, though. I don't know why, but it's getting annoying..
Is there anything you can do to fix it? If so, here's the download link: My world2.zip
Thanks so much for your help so far. I don't know if there's anything you can do, but I'm getting sick of running out of memory on that world..
Also, I noticed if I travel far away, a few chunks become transparent. Somehow I don't think minecraft would run out of memory so much if the chunks didn't do that. Cause it seems like every time I find transparent chunks, my minecraft eventually crashes. But yeah...
The 'out of memory' thing is usually an issue with RAM. The most common fixes to that is to use Optimine and Optifog, allocate more ram to java, and run javaw.exe at high priority.
I've never seen that issue as a map problem, rather a system problem.

Wickedstyle: Fixed! http://www.mediafire.com/?cln27uys67fpsi8 Also, I didnt test your world after I fixed it, because I saw you have aether installed. I believe it might break if I log in there, so let me know if theres still any problems.
lego11: I fixed one, the other I couldnt reproduce the problem (Im not exactly sure what 'gets corrupted' means, since it seemed to load fine for me) but I ran it through the hoops anyway. Let me know! http://www.mediafire.com/?eyec4cdly1jucjd
Hansi: Google how to zip a folder, I dont know what OS you're on so that may be easier.

It's a multiplayer world I play on with my friends through hamachi, we've spend quiet some time building there and even though I have made a back-up file of it, there would be some loss of farmed building material and construction progress, when I would have to to go back and use the backed up version.

My current player is by the ice lake, and if you turn a bit around you will see a wooden house or a farm.
By the way thanks alot for caring about me and my world! It's very kind of you! :smile.gif:
EDIT:I think this save was made in early january when you didn't get asked for a seed
NEWEDIT:Didn't include enough files, don't fix it
Well thanks for trying anyway. I got it to "work" by transplanting the region folder into a new world.
