Got Pentium 4 Prozessor
And Laggs like hell (no fps)
lol, you couldn't expect more from a pentium 4. but you answered my question, it's not the processor's fault. Or maybe the pentium 4 isn't powerfull enough to run mobs?
My 3.0ghz p4 runs this like a dream, 50-60 fps in SMP on a good day, maybe 40 if i'm running another game too.
This does not relate to FPS whatsoever you know...
I'm having the same issue, even on SMP servers that I am hosting. Minecraft 1.4 lags on my Vista computer, but not on my XP; what computers are you experiencing lag on?
ME TOO! Muy interesante. That's weird, my Vista lags, but the XP is fine....
It's backward for me. My Vista laptop runs the game with no lag but my XP experiences this crippling, mysterious lag.
Well this is stange cause it is normal that mobs and animals make the cpu usage go higher, but not like It does to me, 1 mob make the server goes from 30% cpu to 70%... Some of my friends are hosting minecraft server without any mob lag, so I'm still not sure if it isnt a java problem and Cpu problem...
I also have this problem. It seems like it effects me as I get near certain parts of the map. The lag even gets to the host when he nears the certain areas. Ever since the 1.4 update it's been like this for me. I agree that it isn't necessarily client or server side problems - probably just software related. :/

Is there really still lag? The 1.4 Version completely fixed itself for me. The only time it lags is during the beginning when it's loading chunks, and when i'm in the inventory. When i exit the inventory it's completely smooth again.
For people saying that there is problems with chat not coming out for 1 minute, or blocks not dropping anything, that is NOT and FPS Lag problem! That is your network/internet's problem. You need to work out that lag with something completely unrelated to the game!

So what you're telling me is that I can play on a server (which is hosted in my timezone) perfectly until 1.3 while my peak bandwidth stays the same, is a problem with my internet?

Sorry, that post was directed to mitch9654 since their post sounded more like an internet latency lag issue more than a graphics/system error.
From the previous posts that you have given, I had a similar lag causing experience. The first 10-15 seconds the game runs smoothly, loading chunks effectively. After that brief time period, it kinda crashes and if you pressed F3, there would be a giant red wall, correct? This was corrected for me in Version 1.4 of Minecraft.
The only thing i can suggest doing right now would be to try and free up some RAM... ?
I still get lag occasionally, but that's usually if i travel outside of my optical range and it starts to load new chunks. Remember to keep fog turned off, it is a buffer hazard.

I could have no giant red wall at all and still experience tons of latency :sad.gif:
What ticks me off about this not being fixed is the fact that we are paying for this. It is a Beta, but still, I don't think it's that hard to fix issues like this.

Hey when the game gets on full release this will be fixed. We're lucky we have access to the game now.
Anyways, it's been a while since I've played SMP, but now I can't play on any server now. Used to run fine. Hope this gets fixed soon. As for a Minecraft full release, I doubt we'll see that any time soon. You might as well say it will get fixed when it gets fixed. My faith will be in the modders, they're smart cookies.

Yeah, I know, we are running servers on the aforementioned hardware and letting the others connect.

Because this is severe pain in the patookis and makes SMP un-playable.

If the problem is with the coding or something in Minecraft, I wish a modder/programmer could take a look and see what the problem is. :sad.gif:
