It sounds like you need to add more memory to Java, or your computer does not have the RAM to handle minecraft. There are a few things you could do to help:
1) Download Optifine. It is very helpful when trying to make Minecraft run faster.
2) Change all available settings in vanilla minecraft. Things such as "Graphics: Fancy" can be changed to "Graphics: Fast", lowering your render distance, etc.
3) remove any mods you may be using
4) allow java to use more ram. This can be configured in the Java settings (just google it if you don't understand)
5) get a new computer
