My Minecraft freezes after about 10 seconds on a server. I am a mod on that server and i really want to go on it a lot. I use Windows Vista (That Might Be The Problem) a 64 bit, 4GB of Ram, and i don't use any mods. I tried Optifine, but it didn't work. Please Any help?
How much RAM is actually assigned to Minecraft? By default it won't assign all 4GB you've got, not that using it all for Minecraft would be a good idea but 2 or 3GB would be a wise move. Hit F3 in-game then check top right hand corner and it'll tell you how much is assigned. Link below is a tutorial on how to assign more if that is what's giving you the freezing issue.
Windows takes 2gb of ram just to run so the maximum ammount of ram you should have allocated to mc is 2gb. But if you allocate 2gb it will slow down all of your other prosesses like internet connection and other programs you have open.
What i would do it this:
1 run launcher do not press play
2 tap on edit profile
3 unter allocated ram (or sompthing similar) tick the box that would let you change the ammount.
4 It will now open thr box up to editing at the end of the words it will say 1g remove that (only the 1g) And where the 1g was write 512m and press save profile up the top.
5 run the launcher and play. Tell me if this worked.

It Still Freezes... Any other things? I tried updating Java, but it still didn't work. It says Java uses up much of my space, so idk what the problem is.
I doubt this is a RAM issue unless you have mods or an HD resource pack loaded. 512MB - 2GB is plenty in my experience.

Is there a crash log after the game freezes? Does the launcher reappear with more information?

There is really nothing else. There is no crash log, but yes the launcher reappears, but with the same exact stuff from when I first started the launcher.
