I have recently restored my computer to factory settings, and I go to download and install Minecraft again (don't think that has anything to do with the issue but I'd thought I'd mention it just in case). The launcher starts up fine but I end up with this? The 'Play' button is faded and it does not even give me the option to login. I've tried reinstalling Minecraft at least six times (Java too) and I keep ending up with this. Also I've waited with it open for about two hours just to make sure it wasn't loading or anything which I believe it was not. I've never had this problem before. Any solutions? Your help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks.
You have to create a new profile instead of the (default), after that drop down the profile list and select the new profile you've created, and you'll be automatically redirected to a login screen. Selecting (default) profile after that shows the login screen too.
I had the same problem, I'm not sure why, I haven't played minecraft for months now, but then I faced this problem, deleting everything except the saves doesn't work nor reinstalling java or anything, it's all up-to-date.
