I was having some issues with Minecraft a little over a week ago, and decided to reinstall Minecraft to try and solve them after many failed attempts. However, that just created more problems. Since one of the reasons I wanted to reinstall Minecraft was that I couldn't join any modded servers with mods that I wanted to try, I posted a topic in the Modified Client support section even though I had just reinstalled Minecraft and no longer had the mods. This is the post:
I wasn't sure whether to put this in modified client support or unmodified client support since I previously had mods, and was reinstalling minecraft because I was not able to go on modded servers.
I recently reinstalled minecraft because I downloaded a mod, tried to play on a server for that mod (no other mods were required), and could not connect because of an error message I kept getting that started with Failed to Login: Server returned HTTP response code. I read that reinstalling Minecraft an the mod could fix the error, so I deleted the .minecraft folder and redownloaded the client. I'm able to play the newest version of vanilla Minecraft just fine, but when I try to run the version the mod requires (1.6.4), I get messages saying the resources folder and other things related to it could not be downloaded. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I also don't have the regular Minecraft logo when I open the newest version.

There are two other issues that I found shortly after making the post. Whether I have sounds enabled or disabled, have a resourcepack or use the default one, there is not any sound. I checked the volume mixer and everything, no sound. I also cannot see the skins of any player or my own. I own a premium Minecraft account, was signed into Minecraft.net when I tried to reinstall, and have never had account issues. Has anyone had any of these problems before? Also, would you need to see what the development console says when I try to play 1.6.4?

Never got a reply for this, but I just thought that I would say I fixed it today. I had minecraft installed on another user for my computer and hadn't played it for awhile, so I just transfered the .minecraft folder. Wouldn't work for anyone else with this issue, but now everything is perfect for me.
