I gust had that problem and for the first time I didn't understand, what is the problem. If you have your own server and you are playing there, there can be a cases of failure. That`s a crash of the world. You can`t join the server with this crashed world.
If you have a problem and you feel sorry for creating a world knit, you can help the program MCEdit. There you can select all the chunks that you have had in the past in the world and insert some new world. The problem probably will be to neprorabotke chunks or biomes.
Live me a comment if that helped you. You are welcome .
