I was trying to play, but it started saying that it had invalid security certificates, so I googled around trying to find some things and multiple sources said to delete my .minecraft folder, so I did, and now minecraft won't even open when I double click it. Please help?

Sooooo weird. Minecraft.exe is supposed to open without the .minecraft folder. When you do it, the launcher download the files. It's the only way to install Minecraft!
You need to reinstall Java.
First, go to the Programs and Features in Control Panel (Add and Remove Programs on XP). Uninstall everything that says Java in the name. Then, go to http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp to re-install Java.
Try re-downloading the OFICIAL launcher: minecraft.net/download.
If it doens't work, fix your hour and time to make the computer think the SSL certificate is not expired while Mojang fixes it (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/967917-how-to-fix-minecraft-cannot-connect-to-minecraftnet/).
