I recently installed Ubuntu on my system and have tried playing Minecraft on it. It works well enough, but the FPS is lower than on my Windows 7. I'm using the OpenJDK 7 package. I don't understand why it's slower, it runs perfectly on my Windows 7, so shouldn't it run just as good or better on Ubuntu? Any help would be appreciated.
Do you have your graphics drivers installed? Because the stock linux ones mostly aren't as efficient as the ones specifically made for your graphics card.

I went into "Additional Drivers" and chose one from there. However, it was still rather slow.
